Project Gemstone


Launched in February 2013 by Yau Tsim Police District, Project Gemstone is a dedicated programme for Ethnic Minorities (EM) youths. This initiative aims to enhance the Chinese language proficiency of EM youths, assist them to overcome language barriers, promote social inclusion and explore career opportunities, particularly for those who have interest to join the Police Force or the Civil Service.

  • Programme Features

    • ●Chinese Language Classes: Every Saturday, taught by a professionally qualified Chinese language teacher to strengthen students’ foundation.
    • ●Physical Fitness Training: Every Wednesday, led by police volunteers to improve students’ physical health and discipline.
    • ●Diverse Activities: Visits to police stations and government departments, life planning, volunteer services and other activities to deepen EM youths’ understanding of policing and public affairs.
  • Project Gemstone has been widely recognized for its outstanding contribution in promoting racial harmony and received multiple awards, including:

    • ●Service Quality Wing of Hong Kong Police Force - Service Quality Award Scheme
