The Amber OTA for Türkiye is currently in force, while the OTA for its south-eastern provinces is Red. Residents who intend to visit the country or are already there should monitor the situation, exercise caution, attend to personal safety and avoid protests and large gatherings of people. Residents in Türkiye who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868, call the 1868 hotline using network data or use the 1868 Chatbot via the Immigration Department Mobile Application, send message to the 1868 WhatsApp assistance hotline, send message to the 1868 WeChat assistance hotline or submit the Online Assistance Request Form, or contact the Chinese Embassy in Türkiye at consular protection hotline: (90) 5388215530.

Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit – Online Assistance Request Form

- On 20 February 2023, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake and an aftershock of 5.8 magnitude hit the Province of Hatay in south-eastern Türkiye, resulting in casualties and damages.
- On 6 February 2023, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit the south-eastern Türkiye, resulting in serious casualties and damages.
- On 13 November 2022, a bomb attack occurred on Istiklal Avenue in central Istanbul, resulting in casualties.
- On 18 July 2018, the state of emergency imposed since July 2016 was lifted.
- On 5 January 2017, a car bomb explosion occurred in the western city of Izmir, resulting in casualties.
- On 1 January 2017, a shooting incident occurred in Istanbul, resulting in serious casualties.
- On 10 December 2016, bomb attacks occurred near a football stadium in Istanbul, resulting in serious casualties.
- On 6 October 2016, a bomb attack occurred in Istanbul, resulting in injuries.
- On 15 July 2016, a coup attempt occurred and armed clashes broke out in Ankara and Istanbul, resulting in casualties. On 20 July 2016, the Turkish authorities declared a state of emergency for 3 months.
- On 28 June 2016, suicide bomb and gun attack occurred at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, resulting in serious casualties.
- On 7 June 2016, a car bomb attack occurred in central Istanbul, resulting in casualties.
- On 27 April 2016, a suicide bomb attack occurred near a mosque in the north-western city of Bursa, resulting in injuries.
- On 19 March 2016, an explosion occurred in Istanbul's tourist district, Istiklal Street, resulting in casualties.

Before departing Hong Kong, residents may register via ROTI their travel itineraries and contact details to receive updates on OTA and related information. The Immigration Department may contact and assist the registrants in an emergency.
