• In view of recent violent clashes and extortion resulting in casualties, a 30-day state of emergency in the capital Lima and the neighbouring province Callao was declared by the Peruvian authority on 17 March 2025.
  • Since late January 2024, strikes have occurred in Machu Picchu, a scenic spot in Peru. There were suspension of the train services to the scenic spot, leaving tourists stranded.
  • In view of ongoing demonstrations across Peru, the Peruvian authority extended a state of emergency for 30 days in some areas (including in Lima, Cusco and Puno regions) and imposed a 10-day curfew in Puno region on 14 January 2023.
