Supplementary Information
Residents who intend to visit the country should adjust their travel plans and avoid non-essential travel such as leisure travel. Those already there should monitor the situation, attend to personal safety and avoid protests and large gatherings of people. Residents should also avoid all travel to the southern suburbs of Beirut, northern districts of Lebanon and border areas due to the unpredictable security situation. Residents in Lebanon who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868, call the 1868 hotline using network data or use the 1868 Chatbot via the Immigration Department Mobile Application, send message to the 1868 WhatsApp assistance hotline, send message to the 1868 WeChat assistance hotline or submit the Online Assistance Request Form, or contact the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon at consular protection hotline: (961) 3866468.
Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit – Online Assistance Request Form
- In October 2023, conflicts broke out on the border between Lebanon and Israel, resulting in casualties. In addition, demonstrations took place across Lebanon.
- On 14 October 2021, a gun attack occurred in Beirut, resulting in multiple casualties.
- Since 17 October 2019, protests broke out across the country including in Beirut. There have been reports of violent clashes between protestors and the police, and blockage of major roads.
- On 12 June 2016, a bomb explosion occurred in a major commercial and shopping area in Beirut, resulting in injuries.
- On 12 November 2015, two suicide bomb attacks occurred in a shopping street in the southern suburbs of Beirut, resulting in serious casualties.
- In early January 2015, a suicide bomb attack occurred in Tripoli, resulting in casualties.
- On 25 June 2014, a suicide bomb explosion occurred at a hotel in Beirut, resulting in injuries.
- In mid June 2014, a car bomb exploded at a checkpoint on the Beirut-Damascus highway, resulting in casualties.
- In mid February 2014, two suicide bomb explosions in the southern suburbs of Beirut caused at least 8 deaths and over 100 injuries.
- In mid January 2014, a car bomb exploded in the north eastern town of Hermel, resulting in serious casualties.
- In early January 2014, a car bomb exploded in the southern suburbs of Beirut, resulting in serious casualties.
- In May 2013, there were 2 rocket attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut. In June 2013, violent clashes occurred in the southern city of Sidon. In July and August 2013, car bombs exploded in the southern suburbs of Beirut, and explosions also occurred in Tripoli in August. In November 2013, two suicide bomb explosions happened outside the Iranian Embassy in Beirut. In December 2013, a car bomb exploded in Beirut. These incidents resulted in serious casualties.
- In April 2012, an explosion in Tyre resulted in injuries. In May 2012, violent clashes occurred in Tripoli and parts of Beirut. In October 2012, a car bomb explosion in the Achrafieh district of Beirut resulted in casualties. Numerous roads throughout Lebanon, including the airport highway, were subject to sporadic closures.
- In mid May 2011, demonstrations on the Lebanese and Israeli border. In June 2011, violent clashes in the city of Tripoli resulted in casualties.

Registration for Outbound Travel Information (ROTI)
Before departing Hong Kong, residents may register via ROTI their travel itineraries and contact details to receive updates on OTA and related information. The Immigration Department may contact and assist the registrants in an emergency.
