There are recent incidents in which Hong Kong residents were suspected to have been lured to Southeast Asian countries, such as Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and illegally detained to engage in illegal work.  The HKSAR Government reminds residents to pay extra attention to online recruitment advertisements or comments and exercise due caution against claims of ways to earn money quickly and jobs offering extraordinarily high remuneration without specific requirements for academic qualification or working experience.

 
Hong Kong residents travelling outside Hong Kong who need assistance may call the call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868, call the 1868 hotline using network data or use the 1868 Chatbot via the Immigration Department Mobile Application, send message to the 1868 WhatsApp assistance hotline, send message to the 1868 WeChat assistance hotline or submit the Online Assistance Request Form.
