The Red OTA for the south-eastern regions of Myanmar is currently in force, while the OTA for other areas of Myanmar is Amber. Residents who intend to visit the south-eastern regions of Myanmar, including Myawaddy district, Hpapun district, Hpa-An district and Kawkareik district should adjust their travel plans and avoid non-essential travel such as leisure travel. Those already there should monitor the situation, exercise caution and attend to personal safety. Hong Kong residents in Myanmar who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868, call the 1868 hotline using network data or use the 1868 Chatbot via the Immigration Department Mobile Application, send message to the 1868 WhatsApp assistance hotline, send message to the 1868 WeChat assistance hotline or submit the Online Assistance Request Form, or contact the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar at consular protection hotline: (95) 943209657.

Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit – Online Assistance Request Form
- Recently, there have been signs of a resurgence in the situation where Hong Kong residents are suspected of being lured to Southeast Asian countries (including south-eastern regions of Myanmar) and detained to engage in illegal work. The HKSAR Government reminds residents to pay extra attention to online recruitment advertisements or comments and exercise due caution against claims of ways to earn money quickly and jobs offering extraordinarily high remuneration without specific requirements for academic qualification or working experience.

Registration for Outbound Travel Information (ROTI)
Before departing Hong Kong, residents may register via ROTI their travel itineraries and contact details to receive updates on OTA and related information. The Immigration Department may contact and assist the registrants in an emergency.
