Information related to earthquake in Japan
  • On 22 November 2016, a powerful earthquake struck off the coast of Fukushima prefecture, resulting in injuries. The Japanese government had once issued a tsunami warning for regions along the coastal line.

  • Hong Kong residents there should attend to personal safety, stay away from the affected areas and pay attention to local announcements. Residents in Japan who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit (AHU) of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868 or contact the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Japan at consular protection hotline: (81) 3-34033064.

Registration for Outbound Travel Information (ROTI)

Before departing Hong Kong, residents may register via ROTI their travel itineraries and contact details to receive updates on OTA and related information. The Immigration Department may contact and assist the registrants in an emergency.
