SGSIA Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority

Quality Assurance System for Recognition Scheme for
Security Training Courses (QASRS)

The QASRS aims to provide the public with information on the basic security training courses which meet the standards recognised by the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority (the Authority). The Authority has invited the Security Services Training Board (SSTB) of the Vocational Training Council (VTC) to develop the QASRS to ensure that training courses approved under the Scheme are properly run and consistently maintained at a standard acceptable to the Authority. Further details of the QASRS are available at “How the Scheme Operates” of this website

The SSTB has recently reviewed and adjusted the fees under QASRS with effect from 1 September 2011. The revised ‘Guide to Registering a Security Training Course under the Recognition Scheme’ with an updated fee schedule has been uploaded on the website of Institute of Professional Education And Knowledge (PEAK) of the VTC at http://www.peak.vtc.edu.hk/cpdc.

In addition, the SSTB has reviewed and revised the QASRS to clearly specify that course providers of security training courses should only allow trainees to attend the course in the order of the days (or session) according to the pre-approved teaching schedule. The revised QASRS, taking effect on 1 November 2011, has been uploaded on the PEAK’s website.
